It was a rainy day!! I was impressed at how well the teams worked together off the field yesterday, however for the Brighton team this didn't seem to carry on while on the field. I am sure that the players are more dissapointed at their showing than I am, however the team play needs to improve for the season to improve. Just a thought for all players. Those players who fail to show up for practice more often than not, can find themselves sitting on the sidelines more often than not. We are very interested in each individual on the team & wish to be fair to each individual player, however if one or more players is not putting forth enough effort -PRACTICE & ACCELERATING THEIR ABILITY - this is not fair to the team. This is a TEAM sport not an individual one. Therefore the good of the team is more important than that of the individual. So far I have allowed the teams to make these decisions on their own & I hope that this can continue, however if in my opinion I feel it necessary to start dictating the lines that are played in each game then I will. Again I will stress the importance of the team players getting along & supporting each other, so it is better if someone is pissed off at me for making such decisions than other members of the team. I will listen to constuctive criticism about your teammates, but am not interested in whining & complaining. I understand that there is a very fine line between these things, keep in mind that the biggest difference is in how you present it. I am done for now with my whining & complaining, so on a more positive note, I have great hopes for both teams this season & I believe that there is ample talent on both teams to have a great season. As well I would like to mention that the Codrington team, despite the dissapointing end to the day has accomplished a Quest First, by winning 7 of their first 8 games in a row, falling short by one game for a clean sweep in the preliminary round. A fantastic example of a team playing together both off & on the field.
