Team Practice Empty
PostSubject: Team Practice   Team Practice EmptySun May 01, 2011 10:15 am

Practice May 7,2011 10am - 4pm. This practice will be for the CX4 teams only, due to the lack of organization we have been experiencing. The May 14,2011 practice we will again include the Sandbox Mafia as a team for the practice.

I have been somewhat dissapointed with the organization of the past couple of practices. I understand that drills are somewhat boring & repetitive & that running scrims is allot more fun. Unfortunately scrims do not accelerate your ability to play well as quickly as drills do. The practices will have to be organized in the following itinerary:

10am - players arrive
- set up field
- prepare for physical exertion - stretching, running etc.

12pm - Drills

2pm - Scrims

3pm - Clean-up

4pm - Food

Not all Drills need to require paint & exercises like podding while shooting, bunker lore, switching hands, running & sliding etc. can be practiced at home on a regular basis if you have your own marker set-up.

Some players waste far too much paint just shooting off their markers. This would not be an issue if there were never any players who ran out of paint before the end of practice, but this is not the case. Chronographing your marker or ensuring that your marker is ready for play should only require a few shots, not 20 -30. Play Smart.

I want all the players to participate in determining what skills need to be improved & coming up with drills to improve these skills.

The following are in my opinion the most important skills for a speedball player to hone.

Running & Gunning
Snapshooting
Ability to switch hands/to be able to shoot equally as well with either hand
podding & shooting
Ability to keep your gun up ready to shoot at all times
Team communication on & off the field.

These are only the most important , not the only important skills.

I put a great deal of Time - Effort & Money into these teams it should not be too much to expect for the players to put forward their best efforts in everything we do, including arranging to attend every practice for the entire practice.
